Equipment Planning and Purchasing

BioMed Facilities Planning and Operations coordinates equipment purchases for researchers across the Division.

We support the missions of research at Brown by consulting with PIs and research staff to create solutions that fit the lab's needs and adhere to policy and building requirements. BioMed FPO will work with you to define your needs, evaluate product specifications, and design the right equipment placement for your space. FPO can assist with scope documents and cost estimates. Further considerations include but are not limited to, departmental objectives, environmental issues, equipment utility requirements and existing utilities, and compliance with University standards.

BioMed FPO has a broad library of resources with a range of options to meet any need when you are in the process of researching and selecting new lab equipment. No matter which stage of planning your lab is in, matching resources are available for you: consulting on lab products, reaching out to vendors for further information, or contacting a sales representative for an estimate and purchase.
